Job Description:
Responsible for physically inspecting fresh produce (Apples) at the direction of HRFD sales department, and grade product using USDA and HRFD guidelines and communicate those findings back to production team.
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for inspecting fresh produce used during the manufacturing process to verify the products meet predefined criteria and company standards.
They will test products across three stages of production (before, in-process, and final) to ensure that the final product is safe to release for sale or distribution and report findings back to management.
Responsibilities:
Using USDA and HRFD customer specification, grade product for quality, condition, weights, and size.
Understand the use of the tools needed for quality inspections to include sizers, scales, calipers, and other measuring devices.
Communicate through voice and data the results of the findings.
Execute the HRFD standard QA /QC sheet in both written and EXCEL form.
Collaborate with all the sales teams requiring this information and other HRFD quality personnel on specific quality issues requiring resolution.
Collaborate with the packing line regarding any specific concerns with QA (i.
e.
size concerns, bruising, etc) in order to help prevent future customer complaints or rejections Execute quality checks on the product in the cooler suitability for shipment.
As required conduct quality classes for packers and or managers teaching the specifics of produce quality.
Work directly with packing house team and inspect produce quality while in production.
Learn product labeling and assist with product labeling while in production.
Inspect Incoming raw material and report Quality to packing house and production/sales team Requirements:
Ability to execute rudimentary Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
Fluent in English.
Some Spanish speaking ability a plus.
Able to lift 45 pounds over head Able to stand for long periods of time.
Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
Interact professionally with other employees, customers and suppliers.
Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other managers, employees and organizations.
Qualifications:
1-2- years experience in a similar position or a strong desire to learn produce inspection.
The employee is required to lift objects up to 45 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color, vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Must be able to stand and walk around a warehouse environment for hours at a time.
